Thursday 14th December
Steve Scott – Spoon Carver & Green Woodworker
My Demonstration…..
I will be demonstrating the methods I use to carve my spoons using just hand
tools Axe, Saw, Adze and Knives. I will also be giving a talk about the history of

wooden spoon in the UK. I will bring along plenty of examples that you can look
at closely and handle (they are very tactile) and I will be happy to answer any
questions you might have.
About me
I’m a lifelong woodworker starting off with my Dad who was a carpenter and
joiner, he made me my first toolbox when I was 5 and I haven’t stopped since.
Along the way I’ve worked as a freelance Modelmaker and Propmaker (for 10
years) followed by 20 years of teaching Product Design. So I have a very broad
skillset but at the core of it all is my love of MAKING.
I started making spoons about 15 years ago and since then have developed a
real love for greenwood working of all sorts. Most recently has been making
Stave Baskets, which is a critically endangers craft – so I feel great that I am
keeping them going, even if only in a small way But spoons are my passion and what I always come back to…
